Here are just a few comments we have received from some recent guests since our refurbishment.

Judges Lodgings was excellent in every area! The location was superb, in the city centre next to bars and shopping, however a quiet part so you can get sleep! And how could you not get a great night sleep in the most amazing bed I have ever slept in! We had the gorgeous room 3. The room was large with a massive super king bed with the softest bed linen ever! The bed was a mahogany sleigh hand crafted bed! So amazing. You can literally lie in bed and look at the cathedral. The bathroom was lovely. A whirlpool bath looked onto a large bathroom window to you can take in the rooftops of the city. The shampoo and body wash were Hermes. Very luxurious! The towels were the thickest fluffiest white towels. Everything was amazing and 5* quality.
We had a few drinks in the cellar bar and sat outside in the courtyard. The drinks were reasonable £7 for a pint and glass of wine. The staff were brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. They couldn’t do enough for you. The reception staff were especially helpful.
Breakfast was lovely. Natural yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries with a choice of coulis. Lots of cereals, croissants and toast. There was also a menu selection of full Yorkshire breakfast, eggs Benedict etc. The breakfast was very tasty.
Can not recommend this hotel enough.

Stayed in room 10 on the 13 August. Staying in 5 star hotels around the world for work I find it a struggle in the UK to find a hotel that can compete with the best and offer a level of intimacy that the large hotels can not offer.
Over the moon to say I found what I was looking for with this hotel.
Quirky Grade 1 listed building full of character. Lovely furnishings. The bathroom was stunning. Most of all, the staff were delightful!!!!! Warm and friendly with a sincere desire to please even providing me with a hot breakfast when I was late, which was a plateful!!!
Highly recommended for those looking for quality with a friendly feel.

We were greeted by a charming receptionist and told where to park. Every single member of staff, without exception, was charming, helpful and extremely efficient. The hotel itself, whilst not having a lift, retained so much charm and warmth from times gone by. The room was large, well laid out and had a balance of traditional and modern decor, from antique furniture to an ipod/iphone bedside alarm clock/charging station. The bathroom was spotless and had a large, very powerful shower along with a fabulous jacuzzi bath, suitable for two. For my girlfriends birthday the hotel arranged breakfast in bed with two staff carrying two huge trays up two flights of stairs tot he furthest point from the kitchen and yet were still smiling and courteous. The hotel is the best situated in York for anything and everything as it is a stones throw from the Minster/Shambles/Bars/Restaurants/Park/River/You name it. The hotel really does give you the best of both worlds, in that it offers a personalised service delivery, whilst allowing guests to retain their privacy, which is something the generic, faceless international hotels cannot achieve, nor the cheery B&B. Top class!
