History...
The building itself is impressive, and has a rich history, being built around 1710 by an eminent York Physician, Dr Winteringham whose son became surgeon to H.M. King George III. In 1806, it became the official residence of the Assize Court Judges and remained so until the 1970s when it was converted into the small & friendly hotel it is today.

You may park in the grounds on arrival in order to drop off your luggage and to pick up discounted parking permit and directions to the nearby Marygate Carpark, a pleasant ten minute walk away along the river.
